The Mermaid Cottage

The Mermaid Cottage is one of Cowichan Bay’s original Stilt homes, built over the ocean in the early 1900’s. Lovingly renovated, she is a romantic 2 bedroom charmer with a private dock and large deck over the tidal waters of Cowichan Bay. She is just steps to Cowichan Bay’s cute shops, finest restaurants, tasty ice cream and hearty pub food.

The historic Maritime Centre, Kayak Rentals and Whale Watching tours are down the street. The Duncan Farmer’s Market is an adventure every Saturday morning, just a 10 minute drive. Let’s not forget the dozen or so wineries within a 20 kilometre radius. The Mermaid has 2 comfortable bedrooms upstairs, each one queen bed. There is a 3 piece bathroom (shower only) upstairs and a 2 piece powder room downstairs. The main floor is open and bright, featuring exposed hand cut fir beams and the 1940’s kitchen cabinets will take you way back into the last century. The kitchen is well equipped with most everything you could need on your vacation. The furnishings are a pleasant mix of new and mid-century modern. For your comfort, the property is non-smoking. Snuggle in front of the gas fireplace and gaze at the Bay with your morning coffee in one of the comfy chairs. Take a book and glass of wine to the end of the dock for a Cowichan Bay sunset.
